Carbonix Partners with Honeywell to add Satellite Connectivity

Honeywell identifies Domani as the leading craft to integrate its new small form-factor airborne satellite communication hub.

Radio communication range is a limiting factor for efficient fixed-wing drones. Carbonix already offers a mesh radio network that can practically extend range. But where such infrastructure can’t be put in place, satellite connectivity is the only alternative.

Until now it was not possible to incorporate ‘satcom’ at this scale without taking a significant hit in payload weight or fuel load. Honeywell’s small form-factor unit brings this technology within reach of the 35Kg MTOW size/category.

Carbonix has the capability to solve the hard problem of integrating such technology seamlessly and efficiently into its proven flying system. Integration involves solving mechanical, packaging, electronics, and connectivity problems whilst minimising weight and maintaining performance.
